The Main Lesson
The Main Lesson is the heart of the Steiner curriculum, offering an immersive exploration of a single subject over three weeks. Each morning, when students’ minds are lively and receptive, they engage deeply with the topic, creating a beautiful, artistic record of their understanding in specially designed main lesson books. Lessons follow a three-day rhythm, allowing ideas to settle and take root between sessions. Through the integration of intellectual, artistic, and practical work such as storytelling, discussion, hands-on activity, and creative expression, students develop independent thinking, a deep connection to the material, and a sense of meaning that carries beyond the classroom.
Artistic
Our academic program is strong, thoughtful and grounded in a deep understanding of child development. Learning is introduced in ways that meet the child where they are developmentally, allowing concepts to be experienced, felt and understood before moving into abstraction.
Literacy and numeracy are carefully scaffolded through story, movement and real-world context, supporting clear thinking, curiosity and independence. This approach nurtures concentration, problem-solving skills and a genuine love of learning; foundations that prepare students for further study and for life beyond school.
Practical

Learning comes alive through doing. Practical activities are pillars of our weekly rhythm, including gardening, cooking, woodwork, handwork and bushwalking. Through real-life experiences and meaningful problem-solving, students connect ideas to experience, developing confidence, capability and a strong sense of purpose.
Child Development
At the heart of Steiner education is a deep respect for childhood. Our curriculum is shaped around an understanding of how children grow cognitively, emotionally, socially and physically at each stage of development.
Rather than pushing learning ahead of readiness, we meet children where they are, creating an environment that supports healthy development and long-term wellbeing. This approach allows students to grow into capable, balanced and self-aware young people.
